Here’s what we’ve been up to!
Thought Support Pod
Tenterfield students named it "The Thought Support Pod."

Big Care in a Small Space: NSW’s First Virtual Care Pod to Launch in Tenterfield
Tenterfield will host NSW’s first virtual care pod offering bulk‑billed psychology without travel. Funded by HNECC PHN’s STEM grant, the pod at EP Health Centre (11 Riley St) gives private video consults with HealthBright psychologists, usually bulk‑billed and available within 24–48 hours. Open to ages 14+, for single or ongoing care, via GP referral and a mental health treatment plan. “This removes barriers to mental health support in small towns,” said Dr Alison Koschel. The pilot—partnering HNECC PHN, HealthBright, CareZen and EP Health Centre—will be evaluated for possible regional expansion.
CCQPHN Care Pod
The CareZen Virtual Care Pod expands access to private, clinical-grade virtual GP consults in underserved communities. Deployed at CQID on CQ University’s Rockhampton campus, it enables timely video consultations for minor ailments—especially for those without a regular GP—bridging distance and improving community health. A valued partnership with Country to Coast Primary Health Network.
Connecting those to care who can’t at home
Virtual healthcare is now common in Australia, but access isn't equal. Distance, availability, digital literacy, and cultural safety still block care in regional, rural, and remote areas. In this episode of Talking HealthTech, Margot Morton from CareZen discusses virtual care pods—purpose-built spaces for telehealth—covering their design, rollout, early impact, and how they improve access across diverse Australian communities. Why we started CareZen
CareZen launched May 1 to address real barriers to virtual care. After two months of discovery we’ve received abundant feedback, ideas, and support from many generous people.
Suggested uses include: a quiet, private space for domestic violence survivors; soundproof rooms for mental-health resets; school-based community nursing; outpatient follow-ups instead of hospital travel; virtual speech pathology for rural children; preventive-care info in libraries; GP consultations with residents; RUOK, Heart Week, Healthy Living, and disaster-recovery pods.
Our safe, clean, private pods for low-acuity confidential video consultations are just the beginning. Thank you to our public, private, and corporate health partners, clinicians, colleges, ministers, and advisors — your feedback drives our mission.
Our First Health Pod is out the doors!
CareZen shipped its first Health Pod to Queensland today. Fully equipped and safety-checked, it offers a clean, private, soundproof space for confidential virtual consultations. Megan Dowdell and Margot Morton understand patients' and clinicians' resistance to makeshift telehealth setups—iPads, carpark calls, telecarts, or losing a consult room. These Australian-made CareZen pods, built by Modvale, combine digital and physical features to boost community trust and adoption of virtual care.
